Kinesiology

Kinesis: Motion
Kinetic energy: Energy of motion

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a natural therapy that works with body energy. It is all about getting the body and mind back into alignment through using muscle monitoring to locate energy imbalances and remove them. Kinesiologists balance the body's energy using correction borrowed from the ancient health systems. The human body is treated as a whole because what happens to your physical body affects your brain and what happens to your brain affects your physical body.

Kinesiology is not just better health, but a better quality life.

Touch for Health Kinesiology addresses the structural, nutritional and emotional stresses common in our everyday life. More

How can kinesiology help?

If a person is ‘out of sync' they may experience a whole range of problems from physical and mental to emotional and behavioural.

Some of the areas where kinesiology can help are:

  • Depression
  • Emotional abuse
  • Miscarriage
  • Physical abuse
  • Anxiety/panic attacks
  • Back and sports injuries
  • Reoccurring pain
  • Vertigo
  • Allergies
  • Food sensitivities
  • Hormones (PMS, menopause)
  • Fertility (male and female)
  • Learning difficulties
  • Fine motor skills
  • ADD and ADHD
  • Neurological disorders
  • Troubled or unfocussed children

Are there different types of kinesiology?

Yes many and you may find that one type of kinesiology therapy works well for a specific complaint and not for another, so talk to your therapist about what has or is working well for you.

What types of kinesiology does Body Brain Balance use?

Body, Brain, Balance uses Neuro Linguistics Kinesiology and Touch for Health.

Neuro Linguistics Kinesiology (NLK): This type of kinesiology is unique because it uses techniques from Neuro Linguistics Programming (NLP), which examines how we process visual, auditory and kinaesthetic information.

The words you use when you are talking give a clue to how your brain is working, but also what you say to yourself affects how your brain works. An NLK balance often requires the client to make small language changes and includes corrections that allow patterns of behaviour to change at a deep subconscious level. It's great for kicking habits that you no longer want.

In practice: A client used to hate frogs. If she went out at night someone would have to check for frogs before she could get out of the car and scamper inside. After just 30 minutes of kinesiology she could walk from the car into the house by herself - no frog spotter needed. Her life is changed.

Touch for Health: TFH is great for general wellbeing and especially for aches, pains and sports injuries. Muscles work in pairs (for example, triceps and biceps), so to bend your arm one muscle is stretching and its partner is contracting. But if one muscle is over-worked the other often can't do any work - they are out of balance. With TFH the practitioner can balance the energy so that the muscles can work together as they should.

In practice: A client had a sore knee for months. He hobbled and groaned and then got fed up of whinging about it. After one kinesiology balance it has hardly bothered him since. There was a bully muscle in the leg that would not let some other muscles work properly. Jocelyn did some bully busting and now the other muscles can do their work, meaning no more sore knee.
